July 7th, 2008 — dark knight

“Normal criminals usually have logical motives, but the Joker’s insane schemes make sense to him alone.”
-Batman in The Laughing Fish by Paul Dini.
Only eleven more days left…
FUN FACT: The Joker was inspired by Gwynplaine, the title character with the deformed grin, in The Man Who Laughs. He was played by Conrad Veidt. Smile everyone!

June 5th, 2008 — awesome, comedy, horror, politics, preview

The typographer in me is jumping for joy over this Bell-font teaser poster for Oliver Stone’s W. I hope to see them lined up across the marquee walls soon. The Bushisms are also a great send up of the commander in thief.
Do you think this type of all-type movie advertisement sheet could set a trend for future movie posters? No pictures, but with more font-laced words dedicated to more than just the film’s title and a tag line.
Fun Extra: You can download the font regularly used for movie poster credits here.

April 10th, 2008 — awesome, merchandise, movies

The poster above is created using the entire script of The Godfather. It’s all handwritten, and all of it’s legible. I would never have the patience to do it, sorry Mr. Coppola. I love your movie, I do.
But now that it’s done I don’t have to do that.
This would be a nice change from the typical cliché Godfather poster.
The good news is you can pick it up for 14 bucks.
The site’s pretty awesome. They have Reservoir Dogs, Scarface, Rocky and a few more, all created using the movie script.
