October 12th, 2008 — SAG, actors, speculation, strike — by Keifer Albin

SAG next?
According to an email sent out to SAG members on Thursday, the national board will be meeting next weekend to discuss a vote on the strike. It could take 30-45 days to hold such a vote, but if 3/4 of the voting members support the strike, the national board could call an actual strike if they deem it necessary. All this means is…oh s%*t. This could…ok would be worse then the WGA strike. During that one they could write for themselves, and still act (I’m convinced American Carol was conceived during the strike). During this strike, the writers would have to act…that would be fun, to see Charlie Kaufmann replace Jack Bauer…actually…
We’ll keep you posted on the updates.
October 11th, 2008 — DVD, Upcoming, dark knight, merchandise, movies — by Keifer Albin

The Dark Knight DVD’s have shown up for pre-order on various sites. Get this, we all expected TDK to do well on the DVD sales charts, but it has hit number 3 on Amazon’s Movie sales chart. All this coming from a movie that is still two months out. Wouldn’t you like to be behind that gravy train…maybe Chris Nolan could fund a second bailout.
You can pick up the two-disc edition for $22.99. Don’t even think about getting the one disc version. In fact, that doesn’t even exist.
No sign of the crazy awesome bat-pod edition yet. Keep your eyes peeled.
October 7th, 2008 — Johnny Depp, Pirates of the Caribbean, Upcoming, movies, speculation — by Keifer Albin

So this is how it happens, The Daily Mail comes up with a story that Johnny Depp will be getting paid £32,000,000 ($56 million) for The Pirates of the Caribbean 4: The Fountain of Youth (ok, that’s not the title…just my addition) which would make him the highest paid actor ever, and everyone believes them.
While I am not inclined to believe something the Daily Mail says, without taking it with a grain of salt, this isn’t too hard to believe. Arguably Johnny Depp carried the entire franchise, making it almost bearable. Since the first three made over $2.68 billion worldwide, there is no reason to think that a fourth wouldn’t do well.
Would you watch a fourth Pirates movie? Or do you think they are milking the franchise too much?
October 7th, 2008 — One-Sheet, Twilight, Upcoming, movies — by Keifer Albin

Ok, is it just me, or does this look absolutely horrible? From the crappy “scary guy” make-up, to the actor’s seeming inability to show emotion, to the fact that it is a #!*$ teen vampire love story. Maybe that’s just me.
October 6th, 2008 — One-Sheet, awesome, dark knight, movies, speculation — by Keifer Albin

Ok, so this has absolutely nothing to do with the news about Nolan signing on for a sequel to The Dark Knight, this is just an awesome fan made poster “advertising” the sequel. Whoever made this needs to be hired by Nolan and Co. immediately.
Usually we don’t post speculative images or fan made posters, but this one was too good to pass up. My question is, do you think Nolan would consider using the storyline from Frank Miller’s eponymous graphic novel? Should he?
October 6th, 2008 — Eisenberg, Upcoming, Zombies, actors, movies, preview, speculation — by Keifer Albin

,
Jesse Eisenberg (The Squid and the Whale, Roger Dodger) is in the final stages of signing on for Ruben Fleisher’s (this being his first major feature film) Zombieland, a zombie comedy. It is said that Eisenberg would play a shut-in who is an expert at surviving zombies, but not at being around people.
Sounds interesting. Let’s hope it can be as good as Shaun of the Dead without feeling like a cheap ripoff. I imagine we’ll hear more about it over the next few weeks. Keep your eyes peeled.
October 6th, 2008 — James Bond, Quantum of Solace, Upcoming, movies, preview, trailer — by Keifer Albin
One month, eight days, and counting. One month, eight days and counting…
Are You looking forward to the new Bond? If not, why do you have a death wish? Just kidding, but seriously, why do you want to die?
October 6th, 2008 — TR2N, Tron, Upcoming, movies, preview, speculation — by Keifer Albin

Now, I am not generally a fan of 3D movies. It usually feels like a gimmick, something added on at the last moment just to make themselves feel like mavericks. But I can say with 100% conviction that I am going to go see TR2N (Tron 2 to those humans among us) on opening day, after reading AICN’s interview with the director. In the interview, he also announced that the film should be able to make it out in time to for a late 2010 release.
What do you think of 3D movies? Are you looking forward to Tron 2?

Busted Tees‘ newest offering imagines an alternate universe (better?) where E.T. bike jacks Elliot, and drives off into the sunset. Awesome, right? You can pick it up for $19 on their site.
