Last time Commissioner Gordon called you up. Then District Attorney Harvey Dent sent you his Call to Action as part of his re-election campaign via e-mail. I admit it. Come election day, I voted for Dent online because I believed in him. I’m glad HE WON! - you can also watch Dent’s Assistant Rachael Dawes endorse her support for him.
Columbia Pictures is in the process of casting their remake of the film My Fair Lady, and Keira Knightley is in talks to star as Eliza Dolittle, the flower girl who is turned into a lady. The project is being produced by Duncan Kenworthy (Love Actually) and Cameron Mackintosh.
This version is intended to be shot entirely on location, wheras the 1964 version was shot on soundstages in California.
The original version starred Rex Harrison as Henry Higgins, and Audrey Hepburn as Elize Doolittle.
My only question about this, is can Keira sing? It seems more and more popular to put non-singers in singing roles, and usually they turn out well (Walk Hard…you know you liked it). There is nothing worse though then a lip synched song in a film. Even the black plague isn’t as bad.
Do you think Keira Knightley will be able to sing?
Sam Raimi has announced that he is eager to read the newest draft of Spiderman 4, due in a few months from James Vanderbilt (Zodiac). After which he will decide whether he wants to become involved in the project or not.
“I’m excited to read it,” said Raimi, “I’m hoping it’s as great as our discussions were about it and hoping it feels right for me, because I love Spider-Man, and I’m hoping I’m well-enough rested to, like, really embrace it and hoping that Sony wants me at that time to direct it. So if all those things come together, I would love, love to do it. But this is a lot of unknowns about the future.”
Just a few months ago, Raimi seemed very hesitant about the idea of being involved in the 4th film, so before you get too eager (or depressed) remember that nothing is final. I would imagine that if he does return, the story will be less convoluted then 3 which wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of his career. Cross your fingers that he will be able to retain a slight amount of creative control over the direction of the film.
Would you like to see Raimi return for the 4th film?
The typographer in me is jumping for joy over this Bell-font teaser poster for Oliver Stone’s W. I hope to see them lined up across the marquee walls soon. The Bushisms are also a great send up of the commander in thief.
Do you think this type of all-type movie advertisement sheet could set a trend for future movie posters? No pictures, but with more font-laced words dedicated to more than just the film’s title and a tag line.
Fun Extra:You can download the font regularly used for movie poster credits here.

After several years of teasing us about Inglorious Bastards, and claiming that it would start production “any time” it looks as if Tarantino has finally begun work on the WWII film.
Tarantino was supposed to make an appearance in Spain for the Rolling Roadshow screenings of the Sergio Leone films, but has pulled out of that event, as well as a few others. The official word is “He has cleared all appearances to begin preproduction on his new feature, Inglorious Bastards.”
Inglorious Bastards is supposed to be about a group of soldiers who are sent on some dangerous mission so that they can escape the firing squad.
If his word can be trusted, Inglorious Bastards should make its appearance at Cannes ‘09.
Which of Tarantino’s cancelled projects would you most like to see come to fruition?
Check out the newest Wanted trailer below. Wanted is based on a series of graphic novels about Wes (James McAvoy) who is inducted into a secret bretheren of assassins by Angelina Jolie. In the group he is trained to be a killer so he can learn to avenge his father’s death.
I’m most interested in seeing how well the footage shot with the RED fits in with the rest, as this is the first commercial film to use the RED One.
The first trailer for the Coen Brothers’ newest film Burn After Reading has hit the internet. Burn is about two gym employees who find the memoirs of an outed CIA offical, and intent to exploit their find. Burn premiered at Cannes, and is set for a September 12th release date.
Following the news of a new Jurassic Park IV (oh the horror…) it was announced that a new Beverly Hills Cop is planned. It is set to begin production next year to come out in early 2010. Brett Ratner is set to direct.
Now we all know Eddie Murphy’s career isn’t exactly taking off (Norbit) but what good can he see in making Beverly Hills Cop 4…
Let’s give Eddie Murphy some movie recommendations. Let me start it off. Eddie should star as a window washer who is washing bird poop off of a skyrise when he sees someone get murdered. You could intersperse scenes of him running away with a pigeon pooping periodically. It would be ‘art’.
The first trailer for David Fincher’s newest film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button has launched before Indy 4. It’s expected to make it’s official launch on the internet about a week from now, but until then, enjoy the Spanish version.
The film, based on the eponymous story by F. Scott Fitzgerald is about Benjamin (played Brad Pitt) who is aging in reverse. I don’t want to be as overt as some critics, but Benjamin Button looks like it will be a great film.
