The first trailer for the Coen Brothers’ newest film Burn After Reading has hit the internet. Burn is about two gym employees who find the memoirs of an outed CIA offical, and intent to exploit their find. Burn premiered at Cannes, and is set for a September 12th release date.
The Coen Brothers new film Burn After Reading is set to open at this year’s Venice Film festival. Burn, written and directed by the Coen’s is centered around a CIA agent (John Malkovich) whose cover is blown. A disc containing his memoirs finds its way into the hands of two DC workers who decide to exploit the find (how, I don’t know…). As well as Malkovich, it also stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand.
The officials at Venice haven’t decide whether it will open in competition, or not. To put things in perspective, last year’s No Country For Old Men opened (at Cannes) out of competition.
The Coens have started production on their script A Serious Man which is a (drum roll) dark comedy. It’s expected to have a release in late ‘09.
