Fans have cleaned out the entire supply of Heath Ledger’s Joker action figure, within minutes of them going on sale.
The toys went on sale for $9.99 and showed Heath Ledger as the ‘Joker’, his final completed role before his untimely demise of an accidental drug overdose.
An employee of Times Square’s Toys R Us store says, “There are none left in the warehouse. You will be waiting a while if you want one.”
Some fans are believed to be buying up stock, convinced the figure is a collector’s item; others are selling them on auction site eBay for up to $55 each.
Ledger will be seen as the Joker alongside Christian Bale’s Batman in The Dark Knight–which hits movie theaters worldwide in July.
Warner Bros. has released 5 new international posters for The Dark Knight. A new trailer is expected to be released in front of Iron Man this week and is sure to be online shortly afterwards. Click here to see the rest of the posters larger.
Just as The Matrix films did with the Animatrix DVD release, there will be a collection of 6 animated stories released on DVD as Batman: Gotham Knight. Supposedly these stories take place between the events of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and sort of “sets the stage” for the upcoming summer movie. Yahoo has just released a trailer for the DVD and it looks very interesting.
The DVD will be released July 8th and the 6 directors involved in the project are Yasuhiro Aoki, Futoshi Higashide, Toshiyuki Kubooka, Hiroshi Morioka, Jong-Sik Nam, Shoujirou Nishimi.
