August 26th, 2009 — movies
This post is related to the end of my review of Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen which can be found in the June archives of this site. Anyways in that review I made a comment about getting Megan Fox naked in a movie(not me personally sadly). Well now every man’s dream is coming true and she finally agreed to get naked in her new film Jennifer’s Body with her as the title character. Unsure of what we see and how much she was actually paid is questionable I have heard we see only breasts to a full body shot, it is unsure. As for how much she was paid I personally have heard contract prices ranging from 15 to 25 million. The film is scheduled to release on September 18th, 2009 in the U.S. and Canada.

YUM! Fire.

August 26th, 2009 — comedy, movies
Rating:

Many have heard the quote “don’t judge a book by its cover.” You may have heard this from a parent, teacher, or mentor growing up. It is possible to apply this quote to movies by simply saying don’t judge a movie by its trailer because if I had followed this advice and not watched ”The Goods” I would have nearly 90 minutes of my life back.
“The Goods” consists of an all-star cast, wait I mean more or less well-known cast. Watching this film with an open mind you may discover all the characters start out okay and eventually fall into a pile of non-effort actors and actresses with the exception of three characters. Ving Rhames character, Jibby Newsome, Don Ready’s (Jeremy Piven) friend and sales partner, Craig Robinson’s character, D.J. Request, a DJ brought in by Don Ready and Will Ferrel’s character Craig McDermott a mystery man from Don’s past. Many hopes were held high upon seeing the cast, many known for comedy performances in the past. Such as David Koechner, Ed Helms, Ken Jeong, the list goes on but not for too long.

Jeremy Piven and the team ready to ruin what could have been a good movie. (Excluding Ving of course)
The basic plot is that Don Ready a used-car liquidator and his team are hired by a failing dealership to help empty the lot for the dealership’s Fourth of July sale. The one scene worth watching was the one that was previewed in the theatrical trailer so if you saw that trailer, you saw the good version of the movie! Several cameos, impressions, sexual content, and language is all the film has on its plate but it is simply not enough to feed the hungry moviegoer. This film does not even deserve a long review, there is no more need to write anything except for good job Ving Rhames, Craig Robinson, and Will Ferrell. Oh and Jeremy Piven you were doing okay then you blew it sorry.

Ed Helms and Jordana Spiro in "The Goods: Live Hard Sell Hard"
Thanks for reading.

Promotional Poster for the movie parodying Obama’s famous Campaign Poster
One thing you have to admit… British Comedy has the uncanny ability to force the laughter out of you. With its heavily-laden sarcasm loaded with metaphors and similes and utterly, utterly offensive bad language. Some of it will make you cringe while you’re splitting your sides.
‘In The Loop’ is one of those comedies you really must watch. It’s a political satire split halfway between America and the UK and deals with different political relationships and the ‘politics’ behind them. It also puts politics as a heavy-handed one-up-manship between countries (USA and UK) and within the governments of those countries. Now this all sounds very serious but look at only two aspects… the relationships and comedy. These are the classic hallmarks of great comedy. Pissed off Brits taking the mick out of each other doesn’t fail to please either.
I loved the movie and I highly recommend it.
To get the nitty gritties out of the way (director, plot, etc.)… here’s the excerpt from Wikipedia…
In the Loop is a feature film directed by Armando Iannucci. It is an spinoff from the BBC TV series The Thick of It satirising Anglo-American politics in the 21st century. The film was released on 17 April 2009 in the United Kingdom.
In the film, the President of the United States and the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom are looking to launch a war in the Middle East. The plot follows government officials and advisers in their behind-the-scenes efforts either to promote the war or prevent it. It stars Tom Hollander, James Gandolfini, Chris Addison, Peter Capaldi, Anna Chlumsky, Gina McKee, Steve Coogan and David Rasche. The film is a joint collaboration between BBC Films and the UK Film Council.
