Michael Mann’s period piece covering the FBI’s take down of notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during the booming crime wave in the 1930s.

The star cast includes Johnny Depp as John Dillinger, Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, Channing Tatum (Step Up, A Guide to Recognising Your Saints) as Pretty Boy Floyd, Billy Crudup as J.Edgar Hoover, Giovanni Ribisi as Alvin Karpis and Stephan Dorff as Homer Van Meter.

The writing credits don’t put Bryan Burrough (whose book is pictured above) anywhere near the screenplay, although the book has the same title as the movie and covers the same content plus a little extra (as most books do). The writing credits go to Michael Mann, Ronan Bennett and Ann Biderman.

The movie is set for release in 2009.
