April 28th, 2008 — box office, games, movies

According to many analysts GTA IV is going to hurt Iron Man’s box office. Lets think about this for a second. If this is true, all gamers (approximately 6 million expected to purchase the game) are either too poor, or too addicted that they won’t be able to take 2 hours to get up off of the couch and check out Iron Man. Sounds a little fishy to me. Iron Man is expected to take in over $100 million in the opening weekend, if those 6 million gamers ignore the movie, it should make about $36 million less…we’ll see about that.
What do you think, is GTA going to have a big effect on Iron Man’s box office?

April 28th, 2008 — Upcoming, coen brothers, preview

The Coen Brothers new film Burn After Reading is set to open at this year’s Venice Film festival. Burn, written and directed by the Coen’s is centered around a CIA agent (John Malkovich) whose cover is blown. A disc containing his memoirs finds its way into the hands of two DC workers who decide to exploit the find (how, I don’t know…). As well as Malkovich, it also stars George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Tilda Swinton, and Frances McDormand.
The officials at Venice haven’t decide whether it will open in competition, or not. To put things in perspective, last year’s No Country For Old Men opened (at Cannes) out of competition.
The Coens have started production on their script A Serious Man which is a (drum roll) dark comedy. It’s expected to have a release in late ‘09.
