The Road
February 21st, 2008 — movies, thriller
The adaption of Cormac McCarthy’s Pulitzer prize winning novel, The Road, is set to begin filming later this year, with John Hillcoat directing.
The casting has been a little ambiguous, but it looks as if Viggo Mortensen will play the unnamed father. Guy Pearce seems attached to the project, but to which character is any-one’s guess.
The post-apocalyptic setting should provide a challenging, but amazing setting for the film. We will keep you informed, as this information is shaky at best.

The Happening Trailer Released
February 21st, 2008 — movies, thriller

The trailer for M. Night Shyamalan’s newest film The Happening has surfaced. Originally titled The Green Effect, it was rejected by the studios he shopped it to, yeah…not such a good sign. But, after a rewrite, and a name change, it was picked up by Fox and is currently set for a June 13th release. Hopefully the happening is a LOT better then last year’s Friday the 13th release (The Omen). Update: Last year’s Friday the 13th release was not the Omen. That was 6/6/06…sorry
*Fingers crossed.

Juno: Biggest Indie in Six Years
February 21st, 2008 — Oscars, movies
Juno’s $125 million gross to date makes it the highest grossing indie film since 2002’s My Big Fat Greek Wedding, which grossed $241.4 million domestically.
Juno continues to pull in about $6 million every week. And it’s per screen average is hovering at about $3,000.
Potential wins this Sunday could continue it’s epic run well into the coming months.

Cloverfield Monster Toy Announced
February 20th, 2008 — horror, movies
I have to admit that I was slightly surprised at the announcement of a Cloverfield toy. To me, Cloverfield wasn’t the type of movie to be merchandised. I saw it as more then that. Anyways, Hasbro has announced that a replica of the Cloverfield Monster will be avaliable for $99 on their site.
